EDUCATIONAL THOUGHTS
Back to School
(Photo) Regardless of our age this time of year brings a feeling of renewal, an anticipation of change, and an opportunity to clarify our sense of focus.

And for many it means starting anew with our students.  If you’re looking for fresh, new ideas, this edition of the educator is full of new concepts and exciting new products to inspire creativity.

Take inspiration from Joe Nebistinsky, Chair of the Fine and Performing Arts Department and Percussion Director at the Northern York County School District in Dillsburg, PA. Joe talks about the creative ways he is using technology found in the RMP-5 Rhythm Coach to reach today’s students.

A year ago we introduced you to Dr. Ruth Holmes, Professor of Music at Lubbock Christian University, and at the time our newest clinician. Dr. Holmes, who is considered a leading expert in the study of early music, shares with us her experiences from her first year with Roland as well as her thoughts on the Roland C-30 Digital Harpsichord.

This month Roland also unveiled many new products that are a perfect fit for music instruction. Choral teachers in particular will enjoy learning about the new VT-12 Vocal Trainer. The pocket sized vocal coach is packed with exercises and features to help vocalists of all levels improve their skills.

We’ll also explore how music instruction can be used to teach the problem solving, collaboration and technology skills necessary in other areas of study by visiting with Bob Barboza of Kids Talk Radio.  And we will examine the impending changes in the Core Curriculum Standards and how these changes can be a great benefit to Music Education.

We know you’ll find many ideas to help get the new academic year off to a great start!

Enjoy,
